Giving more good.

As considerate citizens, we’re always looking for ways to ‘give more good’ — opting for environmentally sustainable processes, providing meals for those in need, and supporting the work of other good folk.

At Foodfolk, we believe in looking after our environment and our community. We understand the significant waste generated in our industry and the responsibility we carry to minimise our impact. That’s why we’re committed to sustainable practices that make a real difference.

Reducing Waste, Maximising Impact

We’ve established ten diverse waste streams to ensure efficient waste sorting and recycling. These include organics, co-mingled recycling, cardboard, paper, LDPE pallet wrap, soft plastic, polystyrene, used cooking oils, general waste, and containers for change — with funds donated to local charities. Thanks to these efforts, on average 45% of our general waste is diverted from landfill.

No Good Food Goes to Waste

We make sure that non-perishable food returned from flights, as well as discontinued and close-to-date stock, goes to local charities and shelters. This approach not only reduces waste but supports our community, with our food donation program estimated to provide 17 tonnes of consumables to those in need.

Sustainable Packaging & Procurement

Our packaging choices matter. By prioritising compostable and sustainable materials, we’ve reduced our reliance on plastics. We also work closely with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability.

Creating a Culture of Care

We actively promote environmental awareness among our team and partners, fostering a culture of sustainability that extends beyond our kitchens and into the community. Our collaboration with WRITE Solutions has helped us find innovative waste processing facilities across WA, making us the only in-flight caterer in the country taking such substantial action on waste. At Foodfolk, we’re driven to make a positive impact — on the ground and in the skies.
